1.   Six of our students completed their B. Com. degrees and secured jobs.

3.   Two of our students from Juvenile Home completed their ITI and secured apprenticeships in HAL.

4.   Anil – Finished his motor winding course – Job secured in a private firm

2.   Giraffe (a coaching academy) has given 30 free seats for 2nd year PUC (science) and CET training classes. Students from Prerana and FOCH are attending the classes (Prerana is the NGO FOCH is collaborating with).

 

6.   Giraffe has given 5 free seats for AIEEE training classes. Students from Prerana and FOCH are attending the classes.

 

7.   ACE (a coaching academy) has started a academic session from this year for 2nd year PUC (Science) and CET students from Prerana and FOCH. 20 students from Prerana and FOCH are attending the classes.

 

8.   Following students who had attended Giraffe classes & BASE classes (a coaching academy) last year have the following achievements this year :

 

1.   Amudha – Joined Bangalore Medical College – MBBS 1st year (FOCH)

(Amudha becomes the first student to break the medical college barrier).

2.   Karthik – Joined Ambedkar Engineering College – BE (Mech) 1st year (FOCH)

3.   Ambika – Joined UVCE – BE (Electronics) 1st year (Prerana)

4.   Navaneeth – Joined UVCE – BE (Computer Science) 1st year (Prerana)

5.   Nagendra Prasad – Joined Dayananda Sagar Engineering College – BE (Computer Science) 1st year (FOCH)

6.   6 students from Raichur District (Prerana) attended Giraffe Classes and secured seats in Engineering and Medical Colleges (1 Medical and 5 Engineering). This was the first experiment with Raichur district students.

 

9.   Other students who have entered new courses are :

 

1.   Meena – Joined Victoria Nursing College – B. Sc. Nursing (FOCH)

2.   Renuka- - Joined Gautham College – MSW (FOCH)

(Renuka is our first student who has taken up Social Work as a career)

3.   Venkatesh – Joined Al-Khateeb – Diploma (Computer Science) 1st year (FOCH)

4.   Netravathi – Joined D.Ed. 1st year in Chitradurga (FOCH)

5.   Asha – Joined General Nursing in Chitradurga (FOCH)

6.   Shivamma – Joined General Nursing in Chitradurga (FOCH)

 

10.  English Centre in collaboration with Giraffe conducted one month English Training classes for 30 students from FOCH and Prerana.

 

11.  Hexaware Technologies conducted BOOT Camp (1 month personality development programme) for 10 Engineering students from FOCH.

 

12.  Disha (Science Workshop and Science Fair for Government Schools) was conducted for the 4th year in succession by Synopsis and FOCH. Around 50 government schools participated in the programme.

 

The highlight of the programme is the Science Workshop for Teachers and the Science Workshop for Students, culminating in the presentation of Science Models by students in the Science Fair.

 

13.  The Chamrajpet center of Prerana and FOCH established in April 2005 has completed 1 year and has benefited the students in the following ways :

 

1.   The book library is being utilized by the students

2.   The students are utilizing the center to interact with other students and volunteers on the weekdays and Sundays.

3.   Regular classes are being conducted on Sundays for 1st PUC students.

 

Based on the model of the Chamrajpet center, Prerana has opened 4 more centers in Bangalore, one in Raichur and one in Hubli.

 

14.  Mentoring for 10th class students at Adugodi government girls high school: Till year 2005, the school had a best pass rate of around 45% of students. This year volunteers had put special focus for these students by taking additional classes in mathematics, science and English on every weekend as well as during many holidays. There were additional supporting ways like taking them to Visvesvaraya science museum and planetarium for a day each. These efforts resulted in getting a 68% of students to pass. 50% of them got 1st class and 30% of them got 2nd class.
