Our Methodology

Student selection: Identifying needy students.

·  This process starts before the board examination of the students.
·  We create awareness of our trust & our activities by visiting schools in the neighbourhood of Chamrajpet and during Disha.
·  Needy students are referred by schools (especially St. Teresa School), Prerana, current & old students, & volunteers
·  All interested students fill in application forms.
·  House visits are conducted to access the economic condition of the family. This also gives us an avenue to interact with their parents. House report is filled by the volunteers.
·  Board examination results are noted.
·  Based on our monetary & volunteer resources, we decide the student intake number. And, a team of volunteers select the students  based on the house visit report and their marks.
·  Students scoring above 80% are referred to Prerana for sponsoring (Prerana sponsors students above 80%).
·  Selected students undergo counseling in choosing their courses & colleges by volunteers.
·  Upon the identification of colleges & courses, the students are encouraged to complete the admission process on their own.

Weekend Mentoring: Regular interactions with students on weekends for the following needs help us in developing rapport with them.

·  These sessions happen on Saturday afternoons & Sundays at St. Theresa Girls school, Chamrajpet.
·  English sessions: Lot of our students have Kannada as their medium of instruction in their schools. We look into their reading, comprehension, writing & speaking skills.
·  Computer Literacy: Students love to learn computers. Students are exposed to basic computer skills.
·  Academic support: Students require support in some topics/subjects. These are identified, and regular classes are conducted by volunteers.
·  Career awareness: Regular talks & informal discussions aid in students having clarity on career choices or for higher studies.
·  Personality development programs: Equipping students to meet the needs of the society & industry is addressed. Hexaware/Oracle have been conducting these programs for us under their CSR activities.
·  Professional skill enhancement courses: Technical skill courses like Tally for commerce students, AutoCAD for mechanical students etc
·  English sessions - computer literacy - subject wise academic support - discussions and talks on career prospects - personality development programs  - professional skill enhancement courses.

Follow Up interactions: To ensure no drop outs & to follow their scholastic progress.

·  Home visits:  We face the challenge of students, not being regular/totally absent for the weekend mentoring programs. We visit their homes to talk to them & their parents to understand the reasons, and find solutions.
·  Parent meetings: We have periodic meetings of Parent-volunteers at St. Theresa school. This helps both of us being aware of the student’s progress.
·  Marks update: Performance of the students in their tests/exams are collected. These helps in identifying any special coaching needs for them.
